In the last 15 years, organizations have realized great success in quickly delivering working software using Agile and DevOps practices for their mobile, cloud and distributed applications. So much so, that integrating Mainframe is now of paramount concern as they seek to improve enterprise velocity and gain competitive advantage. The natural desire is to leverage the same tools and processes, however, figuring out where and how to start can be daunting. The fact is that satisfying the Agile tenet of “delivering working software frequently” relies heavily on having automation across the SDLC. In many cases, it simply does not exist for legacy applications.
