In this session you will receive an overview of Shared Memory Communications, including the Shared Memory Communications over RDMA (SMC-R) capability introduced in z/OS V2R1, as well as the newer Shared Memory Communications-Direct Memory Access (SMC-D) technology available on the z13 and z13s. SMC-D with IBM z13 and z13s Internal Shared Memory (ISM) provides highly optimized intra-CPC communications. SMC-D is expected to provide substantial performance, throughput, response time, and CPU consumption benefits compared to standard TCP/IP communications over HiperSockets.-Gus Kassimis-IBM Corporation
