This presentation provides insight into IMS application development using the Java programming language. It describes how Java can be used to develop new IMS applications that run in the IMS Managed Java Dependent Regions and how Java can interoperate with existing IMS COBOL applications. This presentation also describes how you can access IMS databases using the IMS Universal Drivers from Java runtime environments not managed by IMS. If you are an IMS DBA, application developer or technical architect, then this presentation will help you understand how IMS Java can be used to build new business processing logic to leverage your existing IMS databases.-Kenny Blackman-IBM Corporation
