In the first decade of enterprise cloud computing, service providers achieved and demonstrated credible assurance of security, flexibility, availability, and effective integration capability among diverse IT assets. What's now under way is the "Cloud 2" transformation of adding previously unimagined services to the cloud's core IT capabilities: services such as crowdsourced data maintenance, social network interaction, and applications that acquire new capability and deploy to new mobile devices without requiring new effort by application developers. Everything that's been built before can liberate latent value using cloud-based service enhancements and additions.
The enterprise cloud community offers application developers and IT operators an expanding portfolio of high-leverage frameworks that measurably improve developer and end-user productivity, accelerate deployment, elevate returns on investment, and radically reduce project risk. Peter Coffee, Head of Platform Research for salesforce.com and former Technology Editor of eWEEK, will review and invite discussion of current cloud offerings and initiatives across the industry and around the world. Expect a wide-ranging exploration of faster time to market, real-time internal and external collaboration, strategic development of customer communities through pervasive mobile connection, and powerful combination of diverse cloud services from a growing pool of enterprise service providers and ISV/SI partners.
