Everyone involved with SHARE knows that mainframes power the world – from running banks to ensuring airline safety to keeping electrical systems running. But non-mainframers don’t really know the amazing results that these systems deliver every day. And this lack of knowledge is limiting our ability to keep Z at the center of the technology conversation. It’s also contributing to the skills gap because people have no incentive to get involved in using this amazing platform. As a community, we all need to do a better job gathering and telling real-world stories that let the broader technology and business community know what mainframes do to improve the lives of real people. We need to get beyond the features-and-functions narrative and showcase the successes that mainframes enable every minute of every day. This session will be an interactive conversation so we can all share our stories and create a mechanism to share them outside of the mainframe ecosystem.
