Superior availability and scalability in a Parallel Sysplex® environment are the key features that distinguish DB2 for z/OS from other database servers. Partitioning table space is part of the solution for scalability in data base design. DB2 for z/OS deployed Universal Table Space (UTS) in V9 and it has been targeted as the strategist data base object for the future.
