From the beginning of the mainframe era banks have been at the forefront of mainframe users. Due to strict legal and technical regulations many banks outside of the US have long hesitated to even look at deploying Linux on the same servers as their most valuable customer database and core banking solution. This session will show a number of anonymized examples on how Linux on System z & z/VM was recently deployed in banks for various reasons and a number of different workloads.  We will look at reasons, concerns, application stacks and integration, detailed system level architecture and existing implementations from 4 different banks.
