Object Level FlashCopy Implementation at UBS with FMDs – Improving DB2 Recovery Capabilities for Service Oriented Architecture
This case study explains how UBS implemented a fast recovery capability for the core banking system. The presentation illustrates how restoring 43 Terabyte of DB2 data and indexes as well as applying a day’s worth of updates with billions of DB2 log records can be achieved in less than 4 hours. The study describes the key technologies deployed such as FlashCopy; Hitachi Accelerated Flash and Dynamic Tiering which work together to support very high IO workloads at minimal response times.-Bjarne Nelson-UBS
